Microneedling is the best solution to keeping skin looking fresh while providing you with little to no downtime. Using an electric handheld device, the "pen" has a disposable tip that is composed of 14 sterile surgical-grade stainless steel needles, hence the process being called “microneedling.” These very-fine needles create thousands of micro-channels within the skin to stimulate a wound healing cascade. Our body's natural healing response creates the stimulation of collagen, alleviating the appearance of acne and other scarring, fine lines, wrinkles and yes...even stretch marks resulting in more even skin tone and texture.
Microneedling is effective on it's own, but when performed in conjunction with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments, you are giving your skin maximum opportunity to produce superior results. Platelets play a vital role in healing and contain growth factors that stimulate cell reproduction and tissue regeneration in the treated area. PRP is injected and/or applied to the skin’s surface and allowed to penetrate the micro channels into the skin created by microneedling. PRP can then enhance collagen and elastin production in deeper skin levels.

How is the microneedling performed?
After thoroughly cleansing your skin, a thin layer of a short acting topical numbing ointment is applied to prior to the treatment, so only a slight pricking sensation and vibration is felt during the procedure.
Either a gel (or your PRP, if opting for this additional treatment) is applied to your skin as the "glide" for the microneedling device to slide over your skin while it does it's job. Close your eyes, listen to music and have a little downtime! Although dependent on how many areas of your skin we are treating, expect your session to be around 45 mins. Your provider will work in small sections of your target area at a time ensuring even and precise treatment.
Temporary reddening of the skin for 24 hours after the treatment is common, and will appear like a sunburn would. Makeup can be applied after 24 hours. Optimal results are seen after 3-4 treatments, each spaced about a month apart. Most clients then opt for a maintenance treatment once or twice a year to keep collagen production at its optimum. While microneedling does not require downtime, we recommend receiving this treatment a week or 2 prior to any major life event that you are preparing for as you may experience some redness and sensitive skin for a few days after your microneedling treatment.
